The Dutch always have this confidence in putting up remixes no matter what the cost. Young Nicky Romero doing just that, putting his name on the line in a remix for David Guetta's "Titanium," who is "only" just the #1 DJ in the world. Not a big deal, right?
This track is a certified banger, his best remix of Guetta to date. It starts out as the original, creeping along till that dirty drop of Dutch begins. Too bad though it's still a preview, speaker blasting still not advisable until the actual release.
After a reportedly record breaking North American tour, Ultra Records is pleased to announce a new Deadmau5 single called "Aural Psynapse" dedicated to this milestone. This surprise drop is exclusively available for download via iTunes. This synth-heavy track has enough for everyone. Stream the full seven and a half minute track below.
In related news, Deadamu5 has also announced the release of a live DVD documenting his show at Toronto’s Rogers Centre tomorrow night. According to an issued press release, he is the first Canadian-born musician to headline a show at the venue. Pre-orders for the DVD are now ongoing at HotTopic.com. (via CoS)
Just as I was starting to enjoy and like the idea of mash-ups, I come across this track. A Soft Spoken merge between "Safe and Sound" by Capital Cities and Skrillex's very own, "Kill Everybody."
I'm not sure if this one is as "epic" as everyone else is saying but I'm not feeling it. Both songs were well on their own, especially "Safe and Sound," but when the producer decided to merge "Kill Everybody," it included this track because it got murdered. I'm not saying it wasn't well made, just saying that it's not one of the finest I've heard.
After the official release of High Contrast's impressive visuals of "The First Note Is Silent" a few weeks back, surfaces an official remix by co-producer, Tiësto.
Listening to the track just won't do it justice. Obviously not anthem material and definitely not of the banger category because it was made specifically not to be one. Tiësto went out of his way for this one, offering us with a much heavier approach to the track. Deep, mysterious and highlighting more on Underworld's vocals. Quite lengthy compared to the original but a more intimate listen.
Props to a good friend of mine (@bryanrevilla) for hooking me up with another resident talent with Angelo Mendez. An LA-based DJ who is part of the more influential artists of the West Coast underground music scene for almost a decade now. Word is that he is now a resident here in Asia and is rockin' the clubs all over the eastern part of the world. Can't wait to see him hit the decks! His mix of smooth beats and sick rhymes are not to be messed with. Check out a few of his live sets below.
Back in 2009, a song name "Strobe" was released by the man popularly known as Deadmau5. In my opinion, easily one of his best releases among the rest from the Lack Of A Better Name album. Almost 3 years after, the track gets much needed re-work by another very talented and young up-and-comer, Eden Anderson or as the label above, Special Features.
Only 20 years of age, this London-based producer makes good work of the Deadmau5 classic. Restructuring not as a whole but upgrading the already patented synths. Pumping up the beats to give more life and enhancing to fit the current. In more simple terms, making it fresh and powerful enough for the new-school of electro. Indeed giving it that "special feature" to definitely make it stand out.
Bonus Download: An unofficial remix of the track "Look Into Your Heart" by Max Vangeli featuring Max C.Both tracks available for download for FREE if you go to www.facebook.com/speshfeatures and like his page.
About a few days ago, news of a posthumus album from the late and great UK talent, Amy Winehouse, was announced. Thanks to blogs like CoS and others, we get first taste of this album called Lioness: Hidden Treasures, with a track back from 2008 via the Hot 97premiere.
"Like Smoke" is a gorgeous retro-soul fix in classic Winehouse fashionm, produced by Salaam Remi. An unreleased collaboration she did with Nas dated 08 and will be included in the featured album as lead single. Another proof that greatness lives on even after death. Lioness: Hidden Treasures is out December 5, just in time for the holidays via Island.

Always good to hear old school music back in the mix. Especially coming from one of the pioneers of real hip-hop, De La Soul. Bobby C doing good work to this classic, putting out the funk to the already funky, rockin' the instrumentals more than ever. Although changing the track's genre a bit but not disrespecting it's entirety only making it more dance floor friendly. Certified funky tune by A.N.T.
With Mos Def's new project, Black Star, with Talib Kweli and a soon to be scheduled come back, this appears to be the perfect time to drop some old tracks from the man to try in stir things up for him. I have two tracks from his 1997 EP, The Universal Magneticvia Rawkus Records. (via Bizzies)
I know, another "Levels" remix, I hear you. But c'mon! The Knocks + Avicii? Don't tell me that doesn't interest you? It doesn't get more interesting that that. Like I said, not a big fan of the mash-up trend, but this one deserves to be an entry.
Los Angeles favorite, Captain Cuts, is responsible for grabbing two of 2011's monster anthems and mashing it like there is no tomorrow for the dance floor. Imagine the already perfect "Levels" as a vocal mix but not just any kind of vocal mix, but vocally mixed with the very infectious lyrics of The Knocks and their big "Dancing With The DJ."Perfected perfection? Not sure what to call it but I suggest you Check out this huge tune after this skip.
A few days ago released a track from a collaboration between Flux Pavilion and his partner-in-crime, Doctor P. This "Superbad" combination was first unveiled via Radio 1 Student Tour in Hatfield.
Not the usual stuff these two would put out but I think it works. This is exactly what producers should be doing, being dynamic and always trying out the new stuff. Criticism will always follow-through but it almost always passes after. As for this one, I like the idea of a wind instruments playing around the electro and dub. It sort of gives it a funky feel at the same time heavy on the bass drop.
"From the dark and creepy depths of my hard drive I've sown together a mix of heavy originals and unreleased edits just in time for a Mad Decent Halloween podcast."
What better way to end my Halloween themed posts with none other than a mixtape, a dubstep mixtape that is. Disturbing, filthy, horrifying and very noisy horror-themed dubstep samples compiled together in a monster mix hosted courtesy of the madman, Figure via Mad Decent. Track list below says it all. So a Happy Halloween to all you kids! Enjoy!

What ever happened to The White Panda? Are they... Selling out to the dub? They used to make something like "Midnight Life" but now this? The duo opting for a more moombahton-ish approach to their mash-up of Wale's "Good Girls" and Dillon Francis' big hit "I.D.G.A.F.O.S.," with a hint of dubstep to stir things up.
I haven't heard much of them in a while but I guess this was part of the plan for a come back. But I still must admit that the song is very well made.
Another release just in time for Halloween. This time coming from the multi-talent, Donald Glover - Childish Gambino. Like I said, the most aggressive Gambino track off his debut, Camp. No surprise that he aligned the release of the visuals with a camp horror murder story. It is called "Bonfire" for a reason.
For those who can't understand the story: "They're telling a story at the campfire about a murderer who hung people in the woods. The guy with the noose is pretending to be the murderer to scare the girls. But the story was true, Gambino was victim many years ago. He's now a ghost and the story is now a campfire tale." Makes sense? I sure hope it does because I think the video is awesome! Simple, clever and creepy! Camp drops November the 15th via Glassnote Records.
The man from the moon, Kid Cudi, drops off a treat just in time for Halloween. Well, a post-Halloween treat for us here in the Metro. A horror short directed by former Even Stevens star, Shia LaBeouf. Imagine him from a Disney teen character to a visual genius... Props to you, Shia!
"Maniac" is the title of the above horror short and it is inspired by the Man Of The Moon II: The Legend Of Mr. Rager record of the same name. The 10-minute clip released exactly for Halloween purposes. Like most horror flicks, the film follows Cudi and Cage, two serial killers wreaking havoc and terror to the people of Detroit while brushing on some French. All exploits documented of course. Music perfectly translated to the form of visual art. "Maniac" streaming after the skip.
