Having racked up an impressive 1.2 million plays on the original since it’s premiere on Pete Tong a few weeks back, Deadmau5’s return to melodic Progressive House for "The Veldt" may very well be one of his cleverest moves thus far. That being said, the accompanying remix package was never going to be less impressive.

Not a stranger to high-end remix duties, Australia’s very own Tommy Trash returns to Mau5trap Recordings after being featured on Moguai’s recent artist album for his possibly biggest remix to date. Borrowing the original’s unremitting chord progression and up-and-coming vocalist Chris James’ downright divine top line for something of a signature remix on the rapidly rising Aussie’s behalf, Thomas Olsen’s take on ‘The Veldt’ is not one to be compared to the original, but rather seen as an alternative version for clubs and stadiums alike. Progressive house juggernaut Deadmau5 released a smooth and technical tune last month called "Veldt," featuring a very consistent and hypnotizing melodic bassline. Project 46 replaced the original consistency with a pounding, unforgiving bass and loaded energy filled big room synths. Project 46's Happy Technology Pancake remix of "Veldt" is more of a thriller to drop in the middle of a set, while the original could be saved for later. (via The Music Ninja)

Deadmau5 is making waves on the internet with the release of his new track, "The Veldt." The grassy plains of Southern Africa are known as the veldt, and the rushing momentum of the track and references to "beating sun" and "outside the lions run" give the song lyrical warmth, but the title more likely refers to the 1950 Ray Bradbury book, "The Veldt" which was published originally as "The World the Children Made." This song seems perfect for a long drive in the summer sun, although it's far more likely to be played in a dark warehouse to tons of joyful dancers, according to our hip friends.

It’s pretty hard to mention electronica music in the city of Denver without automatically thinking of Dragon and Jontron. While Dragon’s career is substantially longer than Jontron, but Jontron has already made quite the name for himself as well. Together, the two have been creating monster tracks, and tearing up dance floors as a DJ duo. 

This track was a little mash-up they did as a free giveaway for their Facebook fans. Simply put, it’s their combination of Deadmau5′s "Aural Psynapse" and Dirty South’s "Walking Alone." Enjoy the ride. (via The Music Ninja)

Fresh off the block from the Mau5 chopping board is a big whopper of a track titled "Maths." Back home in Toronto after a sweet prank against Skrillex, the outspoken Canadian has got itchy ears and created a Daft Punk sounding, thick in synth, heavy kick bearing track to destroy dance floors. At the forefront of the movement is the amazing Deadmau5 who has also evolved immensely in the past few years from a great electro-house producer to a audio visual demigod. In a Grammy performance that fused mainstream rock with his signature electro house style, Mau5 performed live with Seattle’s The Foo Fighters on their track "Rope." Although the dissonant vocals are off-putting, this track does have some cool elements with its fusion of guitar power chords and heavy dance beats. (via The Music Ninja)

Deadmau5 is cited as being responsible for nurturing Skrillex's career as a DJ, incubating him to bring him to the masses as a product that everyone would, similar to how Usher has harvested and enslaved Justin Bieber. Now it seems like Deadmau5 has 'struck back' now that Skrillex's haircut is more recognizable than Deadmau5's mickey mouse head thingy mask. German DJ/producer Moguai releases his second artist album this time via mau5trap. Mpire, the new project which incorporates elements of electro, techno, and progressive to create a decidedly unique electro-house sound. If you’re looking for something harder than Deadmau5 but a little more subtle than Kill the Noise, this is the album for you. Moguai’s strength here is his ability to maintain a driving energy while sweeping you away on classic progressive synths and chord progressions — there’s power when you need it and patience when you don’t. It’s a very, very solid effort overall. 

While we can’t honestly put Moguai in electro-house’s first tier with veterans like Wolfgang Gartner and Dada Life and scene-storming newcomers Knife Party, that doesn’t detract from this album’s undeniable elegance. (via DancingAstronaut)

There you are! Deadmau5 deciding to drop his latest electro house track called "Cthulhu2" and it is dope! Definitely got that distinct tune he is well-known for. Starting out melodic at first leaning to his softer side then dropping big with the filthy electro bass he is most fond of.

The track was released back-to-back along with a sample he calls "Shits Fashionable I Guess" and it will be off his latest dubstep filth. Normally I would say that I can't wait for the full track to be out but this time I'm not so much a fan. Too dirty for my taste in dubstep. I'm sticking with "Cthulhu2" on this one.

Don't let the mask fool you, this mau5 is actually dealing with severe depression and anxiety.

Seems like even with the recent announcement of "Deadmau5 Day" in the city of Las Vegas, EDM gurner Deadmau5 (aka Joel Zimmerman) is suffering with ‘severe depression’ and anxiety.

The confession was solidified in a recent video when the producer was speaking freely on the cost and culture behind modern dance festivals with Ultra Music taking most of the brunt, with Joel commenting on exclusive contracts, big egos and the usual hoo-har that revolves around Festival politics (gotta make them dollars).

“Five hundred and ninety-nine f—ing dollars for a ticket?” he added about the VIP ticket prices. “Wow, someone is laughing to the bank.”

What led up to the comments surrounding the depression and anxiety was a Facebook update touching on the difficult year the mau5 has had, posting on New Years Eve;

“Anyway, just gunna wrap up these shows this year n try to have a little fun,”

“I’ve been dealing with severe depression and anxiety all year. Taking a long time off after my birthday to hopefully get it sorted out before I say or do anything more stupid than I already have.”

If Joel does take some off we can only see this as a good thing for his creativity and mind.

Last October was the last time we heard from 17-year old boy wonder, Madeon, with a snippet of his latest creation "Icarus." Hailing from the French city of Nantes, the 17-year-old has been turning heads with superb refixes for the likes of Deadmau5, Yelle and Pendulum among others, as well as with his track "Pop Culture," that flawlessly blends 39 popular tracks in less than four minutes.
