94.1 FBi Radio Takeover by The Young Turks

The Young Turks (the label responsible for releases by the xx, Chairlift, SBTRKT, El Guincho, Wavves) has taken residence at Australian station 94.1 FBi Radio this week, and yesterday, not only did they haul in Chairlift — who performed live in the studio — they also premiered new music by both members of the xx: one instrumental reinterpretation by Jamie xx, and one mixtape, by Romy xx

As NJ Underground points out, the Jamie xx track is actually not explicitly new material, but an instrumental version of the cover of Rui Da Silva's "Touch Me" that he and Scottish DJ Yasmin covered for BBC 6 Music around this time last year.

The Romy xx element of the show is a dreamy four-song "mix" she compiled for the show, including tracks by Fleetwood Mac and Elastica. The Jamie xx song starts at around the 49:00 mark, and the Romy xx mix directly follows.

Take Care Of U (Wait What Remix) by Gil Scott-Heron vs. Drake & Jamie xx

Surprising that it took this long for a remix/mash-up like this to surface. Difficult perhaps? Well, it doesn't matter now. The track is finally out and is now available for download. The entire track contains two cuts, one from the most recent "Take Care" by Drake & Jamie xx and the other cut from Gil Scott-Heron's "We're New Here." Pretty much well-made by Wait What, I'd say.

Take Care (Mike Irish Remix) by Drake

Yes, this is my third "Take Care" post and yes, this is a favorite from Drake's new album Take Care which is also the title track (now that was redundant). This time it's Mike Irish putting himself on the map with his spin on the chart-topper. A top-notch producer who brings his A-game with every release including this one.

This 10-minute long effort consists of a natural build-up to these heavy breaks and, of course, along with the beautiful vocals to begin with. The Jamie xx part also gets emphasized more which is my most fancied part of the entire product. I'm still NOT a fan of the usual top 40 playlists but this offering just might give it a chance. Good job!

Take Care (Drake Cover) by Florence + The Machine

There are good covers and there are definitely bad ones but this one just obviously belongs to the awesome. Florence + The Machine surprising their fans with a very beautiful cover of Drake, Rihanna, and Jamie xx's "Take Care," the title track of Drizzy's chart-topping new album on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge at Maida Vale Studios.

Before proceeding with the performance, she notes that the three artists who make-up the original are three of her "absolute favorites" so I guess it's pure love what just came out as an outcome. The collective breaking out with natural soul, adding more strings for that signature cinematic sound they are known for.

Far Nearer (Nadastrom & Sabo Moombahton Edit) by Jamie xx

"Dave and Matt came over the other day, and I played them a rough sketch of this edit. They both freaked and said they were also working on one of the same song, so we instantly knew it would be a collaborative effort. Nadastrom and Sabo, residents DJs of the Moombahton Massive parties, and now here with our first collaborative edit on a Moombahton Massive EP. I'm so humbled to work with these dudes, and so stoked to flip such a beautiful tune by Jamie XX. We definitely tried to be subtle and keep the original vibes intact, but make it thump for the dance floor."(via Sol Selectas)

Take Care (feat. Rihanna) by Drake

Only under an hour since my last Drake post and another track off his second album, Take Care, surfaces. After just a few moments of the premiere of "Crew Love," another much anticipated song was aired. The carrier single, Rihanna-featured, and also of the same title as the album, "Take Care."

Track is produced by Jamie xx and is a clear cut sample of Gil Scott-Heron. Another reason why Jamie xx is under the category of talent. Also, a move so unexpected by Drizzy that make fans want more. All the same, they all made beautiful music together. Headbob away!

The King Of Limbs

The final installment to Radiohead's remix series has finally come to play and my man, Thom Yorke, has definitely saved the biggest slice of the cake for last. And the winner for the best Radiohead remix goes to...

Lotus Flower - SBTRKT RMX by Radiohead

After hearing a few of the remixes part of the TKOL RMX 1234567 series, for me, SBTRKT's version of "Lotus Flower" was the best. It is just brilliant! Proving again that he is truly one of the hottest electronic DJ/producer at present. Putting a naturally sounding twist with a very soft build-up and background mixing-in with Yorke's mellow vocals.

12" out now along with "Bloom" by Jamie xx and Separator by Anstam. The complete double-CD album will be made available October 10 and 11.
