Despite their usual cool demeanor, Chiddy Bang probably woke up this morning with butterflies in their stomachs for the first time in a while. After steadily growing their brand of “Swelly-ness” over the past three years or so, Chiddy and Xaphoon will finally release their debut studio album today, serving up Breakfast worldwide. Come to think of it, for a duo who turned mixtapes into overseas tours and world records in such a short period of time, strictly in an attempt to build momentum for this very moment. This track didn't make the cut for Chiddy Bang's upcoming debut, Breakfast, but Chiddy and Xaphoon decided to go ahead and let this video go for the fans. It's not quite as creative as their "Ray Charles" visuals, but it should hold us over until the album drops. Breakfast coming February 28. (via Complex)

South African electronic artist St. Lucia has had one of his hit tracks, "We Got Wrong," remixed by none other than Xaphoon Jones, one half of Philly rap duo Chiddy Bang. Taking a leaf out of chillwave’s book, this reworking is glitchy, with joyous handclaps delivering a contrasting rhythm. Add in some vibrant vocal samples and powerhouse synths, and you have "We Were Wrong" gone dancefloor filler. Let this tropical-infused track warm you up this winter. Xaphoon Jones is a great producer, more known for his work producing for Chiddy Bang, but also drops some solo track every once in awhile. This latest remix from his takes the song ‘Colours’ by GroupLove and makes it into a real chill indie / electronic track with some great summer vibes (via ThisSongIsSick).

Xaphoon dropped this track for hitting 20K followers on Twitter. A sort of gift of appreciation to his fans. Seems fair, right? The track has a steady piano rhythm with some heavy bass taps along with the original slightly altered.

It's Philadelphia's very own rap duo's turn to pay tribute to the legend of R&B, Ray Charles. Yesterday was the debut of Chiddy Bang's (Chiddy & Xaphoon) first single off their fourth-coming album which will also be their debut called Breakfast.

So why name their record after "Ray Charles?" It serves as their modern hip-hop take on classic soul music. A modern mix of rhymes over piano and an assortment of horns, vintage style. It's good to see artists these days backtracking to the old, it gives them that legit old but fresh sound which is good therapy for the listening senses. Exhibit A below.    

Says Chiddy:

“The song actually started out as a joke when my brother, Cheeseburger Don, got so high he fell asleep in the studio with his sunglasses on. I looked over and he reminded me of Ray Charles, probably because I was high, too. I started freestyling about him and we laid it down right there.”

More Childish Gambino music on the table. This time I have for you mash-ups from Minnesota DJ, 21azy (too lazy). Excellently done mash-ups.
