"The first time I tried to get my license, I didn't even make it out
of the parking lot -- for some reason, that whole thing about not
driving with the emergency brake on totally slipped my mind. Mortifying,
yes, but it's nothing compared to the hell that Gabourey Sidibe endures
in the new video from Foster The People.
"Don't Stop (Color on the Walls)" features the Oscar-nominated actress
as a hopelessly bumbling prospective driver and Foster The People
frontman Mark Foster as her exam administrator -- or is he?
Donning a fake mustache and glasses, Mark quickly reveals himself to be
an impostor whose leather bag is stuffed with cash. What follows is the
craziest car chase this side of "Fast & Furious," the highlight of
which involves Gabby bashing through a few buckets of paint and sending
colors shooting everywhere (DayGlo, a perfect match for the song's giddy
psychedelic pop).
Directed by The Daniels (the duo behind Foster The People's epic
"Helena Beat" video), "Don't Stop (Color on the Walls)" also stars
bassist Cubbie Fink and drummer Mark Pontius as the policemen in hot
pursuit of Mark and Gabby (who, incidentally, get all goo-goo-eyed for
each other soon after she rips his fake mustache off and whacks him in
the nose). Possibly the most inept cop duo since Seth Rogen and Bill
Hader in "Superbad," the two somehow manage to corral our heroes into a
dusty desert lot for the video's climax. It'd be a shame to spoil the
ending for you, so go on and hit play to dig the madness yourself (via MTV)."
