Kangaroo Court (Shook Remix) by Capital Cities

The light side of Shook rears its head once again as he remixes pop duo Capital Cities’ "Kangaroo Court." We’ll have to concede we much prefer the darker side of Shook’s remixes, but his new remix is certainly worth it nevertheless.

Distorted Love (feat. Ronika) by Shook

Shook‘s music is always brilliant! It’s really hard to say I prefer this track instead of that one. His productions are always different. A couple of minutes ago he released a new jam and it’s already a favorite. This time it’s for free so I suggest you get to downloading. (via Golden Scissors)

I Got You (Shook Remix) by Jodie Marie

Disco-lullably merchant Shook does it again, but this time is for unknown (to us) Jodie Marie. Let’s hope Shook leaves some of his creativity for his own album, which we’re promised will be sometime in 2012. (via Harder Blogger Faster)

Album: The Rise and Fall EP by Shook

"The Rise & Fall EP" finds Shook in a transitional mode, as the old school funk meets modern electro sound of The Glow has been refined and honed into something more mature, dramatic and powerful.

"Through The Fire" sets the scene with a long, almost stadium rock-esque intro giving way to an assured mid tempo groover with a keen sense of drama and tension.

"Hold Tight" is the EP’s love letter to the 80s boogie sound that reflects in Shook’s music. It’s a funky, filtered work out building to a crescendo of Rhodes chords and clavi solos, and is the most dance floor focused track on the EP.

"Rise And Fall" picks up where Hold Tight left off with a tough 80s funk sound, a bass arpeggio chugging away incessantly in the background with guitar bass notes slapping through while Shook runs wild on the keys, building the track towards a hands in the air breakdown.

"She’s Waiting" is a carefree jam based around a catchy keyboard hook & vocal snippet, showcasing a softer side of Shook.

"Picture Moment" rounds off the EP in even more mellow fashion, all finger snaps and heartfelt keys, a sensitive, expansive ballad.

In the contemporary musical landscape between the nu-boogie scene headed up by artists such as Dam Funk, and the French house disciples such as Breakbot, Shook is carving out a niche all of his own: A single-minded artist with a unique and unalterable musical vision.

Hold Tight by Shook

A few days ago, Dutch producer Shook premiered a new production titled "Hold Tight" via dance music source Mixmag. Take note that we rarely get originals from this guy. The track is said to be included in a soon-to-be-released EP, Rise And Fall. Stay-tuned for the sweet 5-track groove EP on November 7th via Epicenter Music. Great vibe always from Shook with his brilliant mix of sounds. "A clever mix of low-slung funk baselines, overly-optimistic keys and percussion."
