New sub-genre discovery alert! I know summer's over but this I just had to post. Moombahsoul is obviously a sub-genre of the now popular, Moombahton, a partly new genre of electronic dance music that was created by American DJ/producer Dave Nada of Mad Decent. According to him, his major influence in creating this new genre is Afrojack's remix of the song "Moombah" by Silvio Ecomo & DJ Chuckie, slowing down the BPM (beats per minute) to 108. Nearing the tempo of reggaeton, he decides to combine the title of his first creation to the genre applying to it and eventually replacing it.
After that brief history lesson, here is Moombahsoul. A mix of Moombahton with a little bit of smooth soul? A David Heartbreak project which started out as a solo but now a compilation of various artists committed to the genre's growth and development. Perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon, don't you think?
