Reunion (White Sea Remix) by M83
Here is a "Reunion" remix by White Sea, a band that is actually fronted by M83′s very own Morgan Kibby. So, a little bit incestuous if you ask me! But perhaps it’s not such a bad thing to have a band’s original song remixed by a member of the band themselves. Frankly, she’s done a pretty good job. (via Indie Shuffle)
Midnight City (feat. Mandy Lee) (M83 Cover) by The Knocks
I’d estimate the over / under for number of remixes and mashups that feature M83′s already classic anthem, “Midnight City,” at about 80,000. I’ve heard so many forgettable, often crudely derivative attempts at harnessing the awesome in that song that I had written off the possibility of doing anything new with it. But The Knocks just released a cover, with Mandy Lee, and when the Knocks do, well, anything, you listen. This time it’s worth it. They add a fresh new perspective on the song, and what’s more, they manage to do it without an over-reliance on the “wah, wah, wah, wah” riff that was the original’s trademark. Is it as good as the first time? No. But it rarely is. (via Audio Cred)
Midnight City (Eric Prydz Private Remix) by M83
Easily one of my favorite songs for 2011. M83's "Midnight City" is not necessarily a new track by any standard but that doesn't mean getting a "private" remix from Swedish DJ and producer extraordinaire, Eric Prydz, is not worth the attention. Although many don't know squat about Mr. Prydz probably because of his fear of flying (not setting foot on other soils), this legend is way up there with his high quality mixes and sets.
While the original is a thought evoking, dream inducing, serotonin
producing masterpiece, it also leaves alot of room for remixing with the
soft vocal and synths. Mr. Prydz did what he does best to this track by
speeding up the tempo and giving it the uplifting prog-house feel that
he’s mastered over his many years. Beautiful. (via SoundLogik)

Album: Reworks #1 by Christian Strobe
In the holiday spirit, Christian Strobe has released a generous gift. All of his 2011 remixes in a free download package entitled Reworks #1. I'm not the biggest follower of the "remix" scene, but I'm always excited to see Christian Strobe give his unique touch to any track. These aren't blown-out electro-house remixes -- they're danceable infusions of nu-disco, tranced-out, dreamy sounds that always complement the track they're modifying perfectly (via EARMILK).

Midnight City (Who Killed JR? Remix) by M83
Says Who Killed JR?:
"Man-o-man is the original huge. I had to figure out how to remix perfection and I almost gave up a few times but I stuck it out and the product was an ode to the most spectacular tune of 2011 hands down.

Young Blood (White Sea Remix) by The Naked And Famous
I'm back! It has been a whole day or more since my last post. Pretty busy Halloween weekend here in the Metro. But to get things back on track and to kick-off this lazy Sunday afternoon, I'm going for an oldie from the electro-pop group from New Zealand, The Naked And Famous.
Their album, Passive Me, Aggressive You, was one of the favorites in 2010, and the song "Young Blood" was definitely the ultimate stand-out from the track. This remix from White Sea (Morgan Kibby), who is also sometimes a member of M83, is a very unique take on the popular single. Kibby captures the true essence of the song, going for a lengthy vocal build-up and dropping with choppy cuts to give that soul a nudge.
Video: Midnight City by M83
For those of you who are not in a hurry and is still dreaming, I would like to interrupt and announce new visuals for M83's first single off the Hurry Up, We're Dreaming album, "Midnight City." As I said a number of times, it is a favorite of mine so it just had to be posted right away. Check it out!
The video was actually not what I had in mind with the track. "The song’s crunchy synths and sax solos are accompanied by visuals of pre-adolescent paranormal activities." Obviously sci-fi and kid-centered but great work nonetheless. Although, I pictured the video to be more of a GTA: Vice City than an X-Men: First Class type. Not so sure if this video is official though, According to Pretty Much Amazing, the video is fan-made and is not an actual official from M83. Album is out tomorrow via Mute so just hang in there a little bit more.
Bonus Tracks:
Here is the complete stream for the Midnight City Remix EP that was released also today along with the video above. Enjoy!

Midnight Life
"You can always rely on The White Panda to come through with some top quality mashups and their latest effort Midnight Life is a perfect example. The White Panda have taken the stunning instrumental from M83‘s Midnight City and the vocals from Kanye West & T-Pain‘s Good Life, mixed it together with some of their own magic and created another classic mashup."
Says ANT:
I'm actually not a big fan of mash-ups but obviously a fan of the song. This is my third post related to M83's "Midnight City." This time, it's a classic mix of hip-hop and indie rock music. The White Panda did a great job with this mash-up because the two tracks just blended beautifully! Check it out after the skip.
