Felix Cartal has uploaded a full track preview to his upcoming 3rd single “Black To White”, on his official SoundCloud page. “Black To White," featuring Miss Palmer, falls back onto the pop influences of the first single “Don’t Turn On The Lights”. Details are being withheld about the identities of the duo behind Rhye. They live in LA, but both have European backgrounds; they’re signed to Innovative Leisure, and they’re both members of other (possibly well-known) bands. The singer’s voice may be recognizable to some: it’s immaculate. “Open” is Rhye’s first offering, a really lovingly and delicately sung request for someone to stay conscious so you can make out. I think it includes the love-lyric, I’m a fool for your belly, which, on top of all these gentle strings and dancing harp lines, is so uncomplicatedly sweet it makes me sick to my stomach about every half-nice thing I’ve said that should’ve been more direct. Sander Van Doorn, the king of progressive house and trance is back with his first release of the new year. He had an extremely successful 2011, with releases such as “Love is Darkness”, “Koko” and a huge collaboration with Laidback Luke, entitled “Who’s Wearing the Cap?” His new track “Chasin',” features an uplifting melody, great bass line, and synths that will keep you dancing until the early hours of the morning. George Monev made quite a simple edit to the most famous electronic song of 2011 and the results were completely refreshing. Even with reversing just the strings on Avicii’s Levels, the song stays true to it is original feel and dynamics, with a much more playful tone. (via Music Ninja)

It’s pretty hard to mention electronica music in the city of Denver without automatically thinking of Dragon and Jontron. While Dragon’s career is substantially longer than Jontron, but Jontron has already made quite the name for himself as well. Together, the two have been creating monster tracks, and tearing up dance floors as a DJ duo. 

This track was a little mash-up they did as a free giveaway for their Facebook fans. Simply put, it’s their combination of Deadmau5′s "Aural Psynapse" and Dirty South’s "Walking Alone." Enjoy the ride. (via The Music Ninja)

We’ve had our eye on Wally DeBacker aka Gotye for a long while. Watch as his shares with us today, “Easy Way Out,” a video nine months in the making but only two minutes in length. This is the new video for the new Gotye song and it is difficult footsteps to follow in, given the runaway world-wide success of the video "Somebody I Used To Know." But this is nearly as compelling. And a fine song to boot.

Cycling through old vinyl records and chopping them up in order to create that perfect beat to embody what we consider very good music. "Psilo" is his latest offering and it does not stray-away from greatness. It's all sorts of chill and it instantly melts in the ear just like candy. Alongside soulful vocals of Armi Mallari from Up Dharma Down, it just doesn't get any fresher than this. Music for the soul.

Sango has been on a roll with his remix productions over the past 12 months. But out of all of the artists and track selections, the biggest responses have came from his refixes of The Weeknd. Sango remixed 3 tracks within a time span and all 3 tracks we're recognized and shared by The Weeknd himself. How dope is that? In response to all the positive feedback, Sango recently decided that he was going to complete a whole remix project of standout tracks from The Weeknd. Brooklyn based producer Shigeto's latest experiment is a step in an almost untouched direction- into The Age of Adz by Sufjan Stevens. Shigeto’s remix of “Futile Devices” is almost a new song entirely. The original parts are chopped, cut, and pasted to almost twice the length of the original track. 

 His subtle additions really add to the song’s melody without overpowering it; keeping in focus that Shigeto doesn’t just remix other people’s music, he creates it himself. The synth textures bob and weave to fill out blank spaces and give the song a cloudy, lazy day, kind of feel... Will you look at that, perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon like today. German bred Zedd has put his foot down with an original titled "Slam The Door." Out on OWSLA records this one track exclusive makes for good tense listening. The kicks are relentless and the vocals seemed to be sampled from an old black and white 1920′s tv show or modern remake of old show? "Pop Dance" otherwise known as Challenger is a new unreleased banger by Skrillex that I discovered while surfing the web. The track was featured at the end of the Skrillex's Mothership Forum's website launch video, and is supposedly going to be on his next EP release, Voltage EP. This track is more chilled-out and has more of an electro-house type of sound, but it still has that slow BPM so it'd probably be classified as dubstep still. (via iBrostep)

Sacramento producer Lee Bannon is here to continue the Plug Research label’s winning streak this week with an eerie, experimental remix of Bilal’s “Who Are You." The remix, released via Soundcloud to hype Bannon’s forthcoming Fantastic Plastic, sets Bilal’s vocals over some distinctly extraterrestrial soul, with nearly subliminal drums coexisting with big, wide open bass notes, making for a sound I can only describe as “vintage Martian Motown.” It’s an interesting and original track to be sure, and it serves a dual purpose of getting us pumped up for Bannon’s album and reminding the world at large that it would be fantastic if we didn’t have to wait nine years for the next Bilal album. These days, it seems as if the stereotype of a dubstep song is waiting for a drop. Indeed, that tends to be the case for many songs in the genre. The half human half subwoofer, Butch Clancy’s new remix of “Your Song” by Ellie Goulding is a prime example of how the womp, womp, wobble build-up should be executed. (via Indie Shuffle)

Clouds is a collection of beats (28 to be be exact) that clocks in at just under 53 minutes, and it’s the perfect soundtrack to bring spring in. Take one listen to “Shoot The Heart” and you will be amazed at how much is truly going on behind the drum scene. Most notably, behind the claps and synth, Brown makes good use of a line from The Pharcyde’s “Passin’ Me By.” The sample gloves into his own instrumental flawlessly. 

Listen to “The 11th Hour” (stream below) and you’ll immediately think of Dilla. On “Tao Te Ching,” the first record crackles, making way for what sounds like a tambourine, eventually leading into a horn section, all under a dark drum pattern — it’s beautiful. “Heart of Glass” immediately makes me think of “old-school” Apollo Brown, with its introduction, horn, and drum use. 

To his own respect, Brown has his own signature style with these beats, and there is a sound for everyone on this album. (via Indie Shuffle)

Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and Jay-Z are among a group of artists and musicians who will look to raise awareness to water conservation by transforming New York City water towers into public works of art. According to The Huffington Post, the initiative is being put together by the non-profit group Words Above the Street. In all, some 300 rooftop water towers will be wrapped in artwork for 12 weeks in the spring of 2013.

Any longtime Kid Cudi fan is familiar with the story of the long-lost “Dose of Dopeness” track produced by Dot Da Genius, who produced Cudi’s entire new rock album WZRD. Recorded all the way back in 2008, “Dose of Dopeness” was a live favorite but was never fully finished and released. After countless delays and pushbacks, Dot Da Genius finally liberated the track via Twitter. It’s clearly classic Cudder with his old melodic, sing-songy flow and even features him rapping about how underground his music is. WZRD will be out February 28th. (via Lost In The Sound)

Despite their usual cool demeanor, Chiddy Bang probably woke up this morning with butterflies in their stomachs for the first time in a while. After steadily growing their brand of “Swelly-ness” over the past three years or so, Chiddy and Xaphoon will finally release their debut studio album today, serving up Breakfast worldwide. Come to think of it, for a duo who turned mixtapes into overseas tours and world records in such a short period of time, strictly in an attempt to build momentum for this very moment. Uber pop English group St. Etienne remixed another English indie pop group, Summer Camp, resulting in a grandiosely cheerless track. Not exactly what one would expect from pop band vs pop band, but who really cares since the resulting composition is so beautifully executed? 

“Losing My Mind” starts off with some amazingly stellar whistling, giving way to Elizabeth Sankey’s cautious, dark vocals. The lyrics are cynically morose, stating (not in specific order) “You’re wasting my time / honest to god / you’re never there / honest to god / god only knows why I care,” “You don’t love me like you used to,” and “It feels like I’m losing my mind” over and over until it resembles a broken hearted ode to a past lover. While you were dining at some restaurant with a loved one on the 14th, Vanguard were hard at work making magic in the studio. This is yet another perfect example of Vanguard’s proficiency at appreciating the direction of a track while still adding their own unique signature sound. This is probably the only time I’ve seen this song of Daft Punk off the album Discovery been re-done tastefully. They definitely still have it. Since having the immense honor of getting to chat with Fred Falke a couple weeks ago, Vanguard has come out with a vocal edit of the French-producer’s masterpiece “Wait For Love“, currently exclusively available on vinyl but soon to be released digitally via his upcoming EP, Part IV. In 2010, Egbert Nathaniel Dawkins III, also known as Aloe Blacc, released his second album, Good Things, on Stones Throw records. The album was produced by Jeff Dynamite and Leon Michels for Truth & Soul Productions (El Michels Affair, Bronx River Parkway, Lee Fields, etc.). It's also the year that the American soul singer, rapper and musician exploded worldwide with "I Need A Dollar," the opening title track on the HBO series, How To Make It In America. Aloe Blacc's career had started at the end of the 90s, with Emanon, a hip-hop duo with producer Exile, and features countless appearances and collaborations. 

Paris DJs honcho Djouls tried to scan the whole spectrum of his career for this selection (months in the making), presented here in collaboration with Stones Throw Records (thanks Alex!). Enjoy the jazz, reggae, soul, hip hop, latin and funk versatility of Aloe Blacc's vibes and never forget that the man is an amazing performer before everything else so don't hesitate to go an see him on stage! Cairo-based Allen Walker has opted to rejigger the 2-year-old “What You Know” by Two Door Cinema Club. In doing so, maintaining many of the familiar elements that make this song sound so good to us.
